STOP (Trafficking UK) is introducing a number of initiatives to support
the victims of human trafficking, improving access to services and
raising awareness of modern day slavery:
•
STOP Helpline
to enable the provision of support for the victims of trafficking by the establishment of a dedicated telephone helpline.
•
STOP Multi-agency Approach
to develop protocols and foster relationships between the criminal justice sector and agencies providing housing, financial support, legal advice and medical treatment.
•
Victim Witness Co-ordination
to help victims gain access to justice, supporting witnesses throughout the criminal justice process and in particular, the prosecution of those who benefit from human trafficking.
•
Victim Family Support
to establish, where appropriate, contact with the victim’s family offering support and helping them understand that they are not forgotten.
•
Establish Meaningful Data
to develop a clearer picture of the scale and nature of human trafficking in the UK and assist in the establishment of statistics to enable an informed response.
